The cybersecurity industry is always looking ahead.

There are always new threats to be aware of, new technologies to implement, and new vendors on the market. And as we ring in the new year, the Expert Insights team is hitting the ground running with an eye on what this year has in store.

We’ve just published two articles in a new series of Q&A roundups, featuring expert perspectives on the phishing threats we can expect to see in 2025, and how organizations can deal with them.

But it’s also good to take a moment to reflect on 2024.

In 2024, Expert Insights reached over 1,150,000 readers. We published more than 200 Shortlists covering the top solutions in a range of categories, from application security to security awareness training.

We published over 60 interviews with leading experts from across the cybersecurity space in 2024. We also published over 50 blogsbuyers’ guides, and reviews of top cybersecurity products.

Taking a look over our content from the last 12 months, 2024 was a very eventful year. In a year of elections, nation-state-backed cyberattacks have continued at pace. Phishing and ransomware continue to be amongst the top threats for businesses and organizations of all sizes. The healthcare sector in particular was a top target for ransomware attackers, but the energy sector and technology firms have come heavily under fire too.

The Crowdstrike outages in August are likely to be remembered as one of the biggest stories of the year, sparking a debate around how reliant the global economy is on just a few large software providers.

On a more positive note, 2024 saw an increased fight from cybersecurity law enforcement. The LockBit ransomware gang was taken down in an operation led by the UK’s National Crime Agency, and in November, INTERPOL arrested over 5,500 suspects and seized more than $400 million in a coordinated operation involving 40 countries. Microsoft and Google also continued to prioritize knocking out phishing websites and fake news domains.

Looking ahead to 2025, Expert Insights will continue to bring you shortlists, perspectives, and guides to the cybersecurity industry that have been created by experts, for experts.

We also have exciting new content plans – including launching a new limited series of podcasts covering cybersecurity challengers in Q1 this year. We’re also looking forward to the launch of our new look website later this month.

I’m personally excited to connect with more of our readers and partners at industry events including RSA Conference, Infosecurity Europe, BlackHat, and more. Having face to face conversations with vendors and industry professionals is always a highlight of the year.

At the heart of our editorial strategy for 2025 is a simple goal: cutting through the complexity in the cybersecurity market and providing you with clear, impartial, expert advice.

And we want to hear more from you, our readers, the people working in cybersecurity, doing one of the hardest jobs in business today. We want to highlight more of your stories and share the expertise and great work that you are doing.

We’re not here to try and sell you anything. We’re simply here to help.

So, here’s to 2025! 🥂
